Where you fit in

As a Team Lead, you report to the Engineering Manager and operate within a cross-functional squad alongside a Product Owner, Lead Engineer, QA, NOC, Performance and IT Operations. You are responsible for the engineering management side of team effectiveness – supporting delivery health, people practices, and cross-team coordination. You partner closely with the Product Owner on execution, and with the Engineering Manager and Lead Engineer to ensure the team is set up for long-term success.

The impact you will have

Partner with the Product Owner to ensure engineering work is well-shaped, with clear feasibility, dependencies, sequencing, and high-quality acceptance criteria.
Support predictable delivery by managing engineering-side coordination, including capacity alignment, WIP discipline, and escalation of blockers.
Maintain a clear view of delivery health, using metrics such as cycle time, defect trends, operational load, and reliability signals to drive corrective actions with the Engineering Manager and Lead Engineer.
Run regular 1:1s focused on engagement, feedback, and growth, coordinating closely with the Engineering Manager on performance topics and development plans.
Improve onboarding, mentoring structures, knowledge sharing, and team rituals that strengthen cohesion and execution quality.
Contribute to hiring through interview participation, role calibration, and onboarding planning.
Act as the engineering coordination point across Product, QA, NOC, Performance, Architecture/Principal Engineers, and other engineering teams.
Manage cross-team dependencies and integration readiness, ensuring clear communication and no surprises at release time.
Work closely with IT Operations on release execution and change management, including environment constraints, change windows, approvals, rollback strategies, and production validation.
Ensure consistent release readiness practices, including checklists, go/no-go criteria, communication plans, and post-release verification.
Partner with IT Operations and the Lead Engineer to reduce operational toil through automation, process improvement, and better tooling.
Coordinate incident follow-ups, ensuring ownership is assigned, actions are tracked to completion, and recurring issues are addressed.
Ensure operational documentation such as runbooks, service READMEs, and service ownership information is maintained and discoverable.

What we’re looking for

3+ years’ experience in engineering leadership or team coordination roles (e.g. Team Lead, Delivery Lead, Engineering Coordinator, or similar).
Proven experience working in cross-functional product teams where Product or Delivery owns planning cadence and sprint execution.
Strong stakeholder management skills, particularly with Product Owners and engineering counterparts.
Good technical fluency, ideally with exposure to Java and service-based delivery environments.
Strong facilitation, conflict management, and escalation judgement.
Ability to interpret delivery, quality, and operational metrics and drive continuous improvement.
Organised, proactive, and outcome-focused approach to team leadership and execution support..
